Overview

The DesTest DMM Series is a compact, dual-polarized, ultra-wideband MIMO antenna engineered for laboratory-grade RF validation, field-deployable signal optimization, and controlled-environment 4G LTE and 5G NR performance assessment. Unlike conventional single-element or loosely coupled diversity antennas, the DMM integrates two electrically isolated, independently fed radiating elements within a monolithic housing—structured around a proprietary crossed-dipole (X-configuration) geometry. This architecture enables true 2×2 MIMO operation with spatial and polarization diversity across two contiguous frequency bands: 617–960 MHz (covering LTE Bands 12/13/14/17/25/26/66/71 and 5G n5/n12/n13/n14/n25/n26/n66/n71) and 1710–6000 MHz (encompassing LTE Bands 1/2/3/4/7/38/39/40/41/42/43/48 and 5G n1/n2/n3/n4/n7/n25/n28/n38/n40/n41/n42/n43/n48/n77/n78/n79). The antenna operates on the principle of mutual coupling suppression via orthogonal feed orientation and optimized ground-plane decoupling—ensuring high isolation (>20 dB typical across both bands), stable radiation patterns, and consistent envelope correlation coefficient (<0.3) under real-world multipath conditions.

Key Features

  • True 2×2 MIMO functionality with independent RF ports (SMA or TS9 configurable)
  • Ultra-wideband dual-band coverage: 617–960 MHz and 1710–6000 MHz
  • Peak gain up to 5 dBi across operational bands, with consistent front-to-back ratio >15 dB
  • X-configuration radiating structure enabling polarization diversity (±45° slant) and low envelope correlation
  • Integrated foldable desktop stand with rubberized non-slip base; collapses to ≤35 mm thickness for transport
  • Optional vacuum-mount window bracket (rated for glass ≥3 mm thick) with adjustable tilt mechanism
  • Permanent mounting options: adhesive VHB tape pad (UL-listed, temperature-rated −40°C to +85°C) and stainless-steel screw kit (M3 threaded inserts included)
  • Standard 2-meter dual coaxial cable assembly with individually shielded RG-174/U conductors and 100% braid coverage
  • IP54-rated enclosure (dust-protected, rain-splashing resistant) for indoor and semi-outdoor deployment

Sample Compatibility & Compliance

The DMM Series is designed for integration into standardized RF test environments compliant with 3GPP TR 38.811 and ETSI EN 301 908-1 for MIMO OTA evaluation. It supports passive over-the-air (OTA) measurements in anechoic chambers, reverberation chambers, and multi-probe spherical near-field systems. Its mechanical symmetry and repeatable mounting interface enable traceable calibration against reference dipoles per IEEE Std 149–2021. While not certified for outdoor permanent installation, the antenna meets IEC 60950-1 (Safety of ICT Equipment) and RoHS 3 Directive 2015/863/EU. Documentation includes full S-parameter touchstone files (.s2p) across both bands, measured at 25°C ambient with Vector Network Analyzer traceability to NIST-traceable standards.

Software & Data Management

The DMM requires no embedded firmware or driver software—it functions as a passive RF transducer compatible with all industry-standard RF test platforms including Keysight FieldFox, Rohde & Schwarz FPH, Anritsu MT8000A, and Spirent Vertex. S-parameter datasets are supplied in standard Touchstone format for import into EM simulation tools (CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS, FEKO). For automated test sequencing, the antenna’s mechanical repeatability supports integration into LabVIEW-based or Python-controlled MIMO channel emulation workflows. Audit-ready documentation—including calibration certificate, mechanical drawings (STEP/IGES), and material declaration (IMDS)—is provided upon order fulfillment. All deliverables comply with ISO 9001:2015 quality management system requirements.

Applications

  • Field troubleshooting of cellular infrastructure: identifying coverage holes, interference sources, and MIMO imbalance in macro/pico/femto cell deployments
  • Indoor capacity planning for retail, hospitality, and enterprise campuses—validating throughput consistency across user density scenarios
  • Pre-compliance RF characterization of CPE devices (routers, gateways, fixed wireless access terminals) prior to formal OTA certification
  • Academic research in propagation modeling, beamforming algorithm validation, and mmWave path-loss measurement
  • Mobile network operator (MNO) drive-test augmentation—enabling stationary MIMO signal capture at strategic locations without tower access

FAQ

Is the DMM antenna suitable for outdoor permanent installation?
No. It is rated IP54 and intended for indoor, window-mounted, or temporary semi-outdoor use only. Permanent outdoor deployment requires IP67-rated enclosures and UV-stabilized materials not included in this design.
Can the DMM be used for 5G mmWave frequencies above 24 GHz?
No. Its upper band extends to 6 GHz, covering sub-6 GHz 5G NR (n1 through n79). It does not support FR2 (24.25–52.6 GHz) bands.
What is the minimum recommended separation distance between DMM units in multi-antenna configurations?
For optimal isolation in co-located setups, maintain ≥λ/2 spacing at the lowest operating frequency (i.e., ≥24 cm at 617 MHz); however, the integrated X-geometry inherently achieves >20 dB port-to-port isolation without physical separation.
Does the antenna include active amplification or bias-tee support?
No. The DMM is a fully passive antenna. No DC bias or active components are integrated.
Are custom cable lengths or connector types available?
Yes. Custom 1–5 m dual-coax assemblies with SMA, TS9, or N-type connectors can be configured at time of order—lead time increases by 5 business days.
