Overview

The SIELINS BA4000P Portable Oxygen Analyzer is a field-deployable, paramagnetic gas analyzer engineered for high-fidelity measurement of oxygen concentration in non-hazardous gaseous environments. It employs the classical paramagnetic dumbbell principle — a physically robust, inherently linear method based on the strong magnetic susceptibility of molecular oxygen — eliminating reliance on consumable electrochemical cells or catalytic elements. This fundamental physics-based detection ensures long-term stability, minimal calibration drift, and immunity to background gas interference from CO₂, N₂, Ar, or hydrocarbons. Designed for continuous or spot-check monitoring in ambient air, combustion flue streams, inerting systems, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), and laboratory process validation, the BA4000P delivers trace-level resolution across three user-selectable ranges (0–10%, 0–25%, or 0–100% vol. O₂), with sub-second response dynamics and metrologically traceable accuracy compliant with ISO 8573-1 and ASTM D6245 for ambient air analysis.

Key Features

  • Paramagnetic dumbbell sensor architecture delivering inherent linearity, zero cross-sensitivity to CO₂ or moisture (within specified dew point limits), and no chemical consumption or electrolyte maintenance
  • Field-configurable dual-range capability: switch between 0–10%, 0–25%, or 0–100% O₂ full-scale via front-panel interface without hardware modification
  • Integrated sampling system options: built-in diaphragm pump (enabling micro-vacuum draw down to –5 mbar), calibrated flow meter, and adjustable alarm setpoints with visual/audible indicators
  • Robust mechanical design: anodized aluminum housing (IP20 standard; optional IP54-rated enclosure for outdoor or industrial environments), 4.5 kg total mass, and ergonomic carry handle for extended field use
  • Dual power operation: seamless transition between AC mains (115/230 VAC) and rechargeable 12 V / 2.7 Ah sealed lead-acid battery supporting ≥14 hours of continuous operation
  • Modular filtration: replaceable 8 µm particulate filter at inlet, compatible with optional TGAK wet-gas sampling kit for condensate-tolerant operation

Sample Compatibility & Compliance

The BA4000P accepts sample gases within a temperature range of +5 to +45 °C and pressure range of 10 mbar to 1.5 bar absolute. With optional internal pump, it accommodates slight negative pressure conditions (down to –5 mbar), enabling direct insertion into ducts or vessels under mild vacuum. The instrument tolerates dew points at least 5 °C below ambient, provided condensation does not form upstream of the sensor chamber. Wetted materials — including PVDF, 1.4571 stainless steel, gold-plated electrodes, platinum–iridium alloy suspension wires, and Viton® seals — ensure compatibility with mildly corrosive or reactive matrices, excluding halogenated or strongly oxidizing gases beyond ambient O₂ concentrations. Calibration is performed using certified nitrogen (zero) and ambient air or NIST-traceable O₂ standards (span), satisfying GLP documentation requirements. The device meets CE marking directives for electromagnetic compatibility (2014/30/EU) and low voltage safety (2014/35/EU), and its analog output architecture supports integration into SIL-1 rated control loops per IEC 61508.

Software & Data Management

While the BA4000P operates as a stand-alone instrument with local LCD readout and manual calibration routines, its 4–20 mA or 0–1 V analog output provides plug-and-play compatibility with distributed control systems (DCS), SCADA platforms, and data loggers. All analog outputs are galvanically isolated and include loop-powered configuration support. For audit-ready operation in regulated environments, users may pair the analyzer with third-party data acquisition software that records timestamped measurements, calibration events, alarm triggers, and battery status — fulfilling basic FDA 21 CFR Part 11 record-keeping expectations when deployed with electronic signature-capable host systems. No proprietary firmware updates or cloud connectivity are required; all operational parameters remain accessible via physical push-button interface.

Applications

  • Combustion efficiency monitoring in boiler and furnace exhaust stacks, where rapid O₂ feedback informs air-to-fuel ratio optimization
  • Inert gas blanketing verification in pharmaceutical reactors, food processing vessels, and semiconductor fabrication chambers
  • Leak detection and purge validation in nitrogen- or argon-purged enclosures prior to welding or coating operations
  • Ambient workplace safety screening per OSHA 1910.120 and EN 60079-29-1 for confined space entry protocols
  • Quality assurance in modified atmosphere packaging lines, ensuring consistent headspace O₂ levels across production batches
  • Field validation of fixed-installed O₂ analyzers during commissioning or periodic performance verification

FAQ

What zero and span gases are required for calibration?
Nitrogen (N₂) of ≥99.999% purity is recommended for zero calibration. For span, ambient air (20.95% O₂) is acceptable for general-purpose verification; for regulatory compliance or high-accuracy applications, certified O₂-in-N₂ standard gas (e.g., 21.00 ± 0.02% O₂) is advised.
Can the BA4000P measure oxygen in humid or wet gas streams?
Direct measurement of saturated or condensing gas is not supported. However, with the optional TGAK portable sampling system — which includes thermoelectric cooling and coalescing filtration — the instrument can reliably analyze samples with dew points up to 5 °C below ambient temperature.
Is the internal battery user-replaceable?
Yes. The 12 V, 2.7 Ah sealed lead-acid battery is accessible via a service panel and designed for field replacement without soldering or specialized tools.
Does the analyzer support digital communication protocols such as Modbus RTU?
No. The BA4000P provides only analog outputs (4–20 mA or 0–1 V). Digital interfacing requires external analog-to-Modbus converters or data acquisition modules.
What maintenance intervals are recommended?
Filter replacement every 3 months under typical indoor use; more frequently in dusty or high-particulate environments. Full sensor verification against reference gas is recommended quarterly; annual factory recalibration is advised for GMP or ISO 17025-aligned operations.
