Overview

The SOCOREX Profiller™ 435 Manual Pipette Controller is an ergonomically engineered, human-centered liquid handling tool designed to replace traditional rubber bulbs and improve repeatability, safety, and operator comfort in routine pipetting workflows. Unlike motorized or electronic controllers, the 435 operates on a purely mechanical air displacement principle—leveraging precise valve actuation and controlled airflow dynamics to regulate aspiration and dispensing of liquids through standard volumetric and graduated pipettes (1–100 mL). Its core architecture integrates ISO-compliant fluidic isolation, hydrophobic filtration, and tactile feedback mechanisms to ensure consistent delivery across variable viscosity samples—including aqueous buffers, cell suspensions, and mildly viscous reagents—without cross-contamination or internal component exposure.

Key Features

  • Ergonomic oval-shaped silicone bulb with high-rebound elasticity: Enables repeated squeezing without removal from the pipette, maintaining continuous control during multi-step transfers.
  • Dual-stage precision control valve: Independently adjustable for fine-tuned aspiration speed and gentle, laminar dispensing—critical for avoiding splashing or foaming in sensitive biological applications.
  • Dedicated blow-out button: Mechanically actuated push switch ensures full expulsion of residual liquid from pipette tips, supporting USP and CLSI EP10-A3 compliance for volumetric accuracy verification.
  • Interchangeable color-coded silicone adapters (white, pink, purple, green): Facilitates visual workflow segregation—e.g., dedicated colors for RNA work, sterile media, hazardous compounds, or QC standards—to reduce procedural errors and support GLP audit readiness.
  • Sterilizable conical “tower” silicone interface: Chemically resistant, autoclavable (121°C, 20 min), and dimensionally stable for secure, leak-free coupling with both borosilicate glass and Class VI-certified plastic pipettes.
  • Integrated hydrophobic PTFE membrane filters (0.2 µm or 0.45 µm): Positioned upstream of the airflow path to prevent aerosol ingress, protect internal components from moisture damage, and meet ISO 8573-1 Class 3 particulate purity requirements for cleanroom-adjacent use.

Sample Compatibility & Compliance

The Profiller™ 435 is validated for use with Class A and Class B volumetric pipettes per ISO 648 and ISO 1042, as well as ASTM E538-compliant graduated cylinders. Its filter-integrated design supports biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory practices by preventing backflow contamination during aspiration of infectious or cytotoxic agents. The device complies with IEC 61010-1:2010 for electrical safety (non-powered classification) and carries CE marking under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) Annex XVI for non-invasive, non-measuring ancillary equipment. All silicone components conform to USP and biocompatibility testing protocols.

Software & Data Management

As a fully manual, non-electronic instrument, the Profiller™ 435 does not incorporate embedded firmware, wireless connectivity, or digital data logging. Its operation requires no calibration software, driver installation, or IT infrastructure integration—making it ideal for regulated environments where validation simplicity, audit trail minimization, and cyber-security risk reduction are prioritized. Maintenance records (e.g., filter replacement dates, adapter sterilization logs) may be manually documented in paper-based or LIMS-integrated SOPs per 21 CFR Part 11 Annex 11 guidelines for non-automated equipment.

Applications

  • Cell culture maintenance: Gentle aspiration/dispensing of trypsin-EDTA, serum-containing media, and primary cell suspensions without shear-induced lysis.
  • Clinical microbiology: Accurate transfer of bacterial inocula for Kirby-Bauer assays and broth dilution MIC testing.
  • Environmental testing labs: Reproducible preparation of standard reference solutions for EPA Method 200.7 and 200.8 trace metal analysis.
  • Teaching laboratories: Durable, intuitive platform for undergraduate training in volumetric technique fundamentals and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles.
  • QC/QA release testing: Reliable, operator-independent liquid handling for dissolution media preparation and standard curve dilutions under ISO/IEC 17025-accredited workflows.

FAQ

Is the Profiller™ 435 suitable for use with corrosive solvents such as chloroform or acetone?
The silicone bulb and tower interface exhibit limited resistance to halogenated and ketonic solvents; prolonged exposure may cause swelling or hysteresis. For such applications, we recommend using the 435 exclusively with aqueous or alcohol-based solutions, or selecting SOCOREX’s chemically resistant Profiller™ 480 variant.
Can the 0.2 µm filter be used interchangeably with the 0.45 µm version?
Yes—both filters share identical threading and sealing geometry. However, the 0.2 µm variant provides enhanced protection against mycoplasma and fine particulates, making it preferred for stem cell or monoclonal antibody workflows.
How often should the hydrophobic filter be replaced?
Under normal usage (≤50 pipettings/day), replacement is recommended every 3 months or immediately after visible wetting, discoloration, or increased aspiration resistance.
Does the device require periodic recalibration?
No—being a purely mechanical controller, it has no drift-prone sensors or electronics. Performance verification is conducted via gravimetric testing per ISO 8655-6 using certified reference weights and distilled water at 20°C.
Are spare parts and accessories available globally?
Yes—SOCOREX maintains authorized distribution networks across North America, EMEA, and APAC. All consumables (filters, adapters, bulbs) carry unique part numbers traceable to batch-specific CoA documentation.
